Special Education and Disability Advocacy

Lotus Advocacy provides special education and disability advocacy to support families and students with every step of the IEP, 504 or eligibility process.

Steps/How We Help:

  1. Initial consultation call

  2. Complete file review

  3. Strategy and planning consultation call

Some families prefer to attend meetings alone and some families want direct support. We can either support you in preparing for your own meeting or attend the meeting with you. When we attend meetings, we work together to prepare in advance what the partnership will look like.

Optional Next Steps:

  • Meeting preparation call

  • Meeting attendance

  • Follow-up document review

  • Ongoing school and home communication

Other Advocacy Services:

  • General document review and coaching

  • Support with accessing college accommodations

  • Support with accessing testing accommodations such as College Board

Educational Observations

Lotus Advocacy conducts thorough educational observation reports. If you are a family struggling to identify the right program, placement and services for your child, an educational observation provides an unbiased expert opinion to share with the school team. Gaby and her team conduct 1-3 hour observations at school, complete a detailed report including a full record review, and provide consultation services to families and the school team. Gaby and her team can attend IEP, 504 and eligibility meetings to present on the reports.

Educational Consulting

Some families prefer a second opinion behind the scenes. Families might not need direct advocacy services, but rather an experienced professional’s opinion. Gaby and her team provide general education consulting services to families covering topics such as school choice, how to read an evaluation, document review and coaching, how to request services, how to improve relationships with the school, college choice, transition planning and more!
